Grandson-Murten 2026

2026 is a special year for the town of Murten, marking the 550th anniversary of the Battle of Murten, a major event in Swiss and European history. Throughout the year, the Murten Museum invites visitors to (re)discover this famous battle and its commemorations over the centuries through two temporary exhibitions and three Science Café.

14 February–19 April: PANORAMA DIGITAL. An experience of immersive art
2 May–4 October 2026: Narrating, representing and celebrating: The origins of the commemorations of the Battle of Murten (provisional title)

Science cafés and lectures
31 May 2026, 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. : Mémoire en vitrine, savoir en classe: penser la bataille de Morat aujourd’hui, en français. Moderator: Denis Decrausaz. Speakers: Telmo Berner Bastos, Loïc Chollet, Alain-Jacques Tornare.
9 June 2026, 7:30 p.m. : Murten 1476-2026, Altvertrautes, neu gesehen, in German, Claudius Sieber-Lehmann.
29 September 2026, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. : Panel discussion on living traditions as a link to the Murtenlauf race, in German.
